Special Programs Coordinator (Instructional Designer)

Duties & Responsibilities: This position supports the Connected College -- a place where the development and implementation of student-centered assessment, orientation, planning, and advisement will assertively connect students to the academic support, peers, and faculty they need to succeed.

The Special Programs Coordinator will be responsible for working with faculty on the analysis and enhancement of existing curricula in 24 high-impact, multi-section general education courses in order to achieve greater student success, engagement and persistence at the College. Create a course design “toolkit” using principles of integrative learning and will develop and lead training seminars and professional development opportunities for faculty. As part of the course restructuring process the Special Programs Coordinator will work directly with faculty course design teams to identify learning objectives, define course outcomes, develop assessment mechanisms, incorporate integrative learning scaffolds and supplemental academic supports, and create replicable curriculum plans. Using student data and educational research to identify barriers and facilitators to learning in specific courses, the Special Programs Coordinator will assist faculty in applying the toolkit to restructure curricula in a way that promotes student success and connectedness.
Qualifications: REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's degree in appropriate field
• Minimum 3 years experience and/or training involving curriculum and course design
• Teaching experience, preferably at the community college level
• Knowledge of instructional design, integrative learning principles and educational technologies
• Demonstrated experience in course design, outcomes assessment and curriculum planning
• Extensive experience in designing and delivering professional development

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Master's degree
• Professional experience in Instructional Design, Curriculum Design, Digital Media Design, or related field
• Experience in curriculum development that emphasizes integrative learning, including active learning techniques, learning communities, supplemental instruction, and other approaches that foster deep learning
• Strong interpersonal and excellent communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively with diverse constituencies
• Knowledge of emerging technologies and their use in the academic environment
• Experience with online course management systems
• Successful project management experience
Salary: Minimum $45,940.00 – Maximum $66,613.00 – exact salary based on experience and education and in accordance with the MCCC/MTA union contract.
